Don’t mess with Jennifer Aniston!
Aniston’s close friend, Chelsea Handler, has got her back. The comedian riffs on the demise of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s relationship in a clip from the latest episode of her Netflix show, Chelsea. Aniston was, of course, married to Pitt in 2004 when he met and fell in love with Jolie on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
“There are rumors that part of problem was that Brad was allegedly drinking and smoking too much weed. I wonder why he needed to self-medicate,” Handler muses. “Maybe because he could have been spending the last 12 years at Lake Como, hanging out with George Clooney and Matt Damon, instead of being stuck in a house with 85 kids speaking 15 different languages.”
She adds, “Oh yeah — because he married a f***ing lunatic, that’s why.”
Lunatic is one of the nicer ways Handler has described Jolie over the years. During one of her comedy routines in 2010, she called the actress out for being a “homewrecker.”
“She can rescue as many babies from as many countries as she wants to. … I don’t f***ing believe you,” she continued in a show captured on video. “She gives interviews, ‘I don’t have a lot of female friends.’ Because you’re a f***ing c***, that’s why.”
Handler later explained that her issue with the Oscar winner is more than loyalty to Aniston.
“She seems like a demon,” she said of Jolie in a 2013 appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “It has nothing to do with Jennifer.
As a woman, I know when you see somebody walking across the room that’s a bad girl. I just don’t like Angelina Jolie. I don’t think she’s a girl’s girl. I like girl’s girls!”
She’s also dissed Jolie as insincere and seeming like “a woman that you’d really want to avoid” in a 2010 interview with Katie Couric.
In her latest rant against Jolie, Handler also sneaks in a jab about Brangelina’s promise that they wouldn’t marry until same-sex couples were allowed to do so.
While the Supreme Court didn’t make gay marriage legal in all 50 states until 2015, Pitt and Jolie tied the knot in 2014 at the request of their kids.
“Brad and Angelina always said they wouldn’t get married until everyone could get married, and I always said I wouldn’t get married until they got divorced,” Handler says, starting out slowly. “So I’m officially accepting your proposals.”
Handler goes on to sort of promise she won’t comment further on one of the biggest celebrity breakups since Pitt and Aniston.
“But we should all respect their privacy during this very difficult time,” she says. “So this will be the last time I speak of this — on TV. You can follow me on Twitter.”
We’re sure she’ll have plenty more to say there.
